Councillor supports free Woburn Sands Festival with cash boost

A free festival in Woburn Sands has been given a cash boost from a local councillor.

Cllr Tracey Bailey, Labour councillor for Danesborough & Walton, is giving Woburn Sands Festival a £200 boost with money from her ward grant – a pot of money which councillors can use on initiatives within their ward.

Woburn Sands Festival is a free-entry live music event which will run at more than half a dozen venues on August bank holiday weekend, featuring more than 100 bands and acts.

Venues include the Recreation Ground, Weathercock, Grape Vine, Coal Hatch, Fir Tree and Royal Oak.

The festival is organised by community volunteers, supported by local businesses and raises money for local charities.

Councillor Tracey Bailey said:

“Woburn Sands festival is a much-loved event which helps to bring the community together with live music, food and business stalls from the local area, all while raising money for local charities.

“This year, the event will be raising funds for three local charities, Shay's Smiles, Aspley Guise School PTFA and The Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands Scouts.

“I look forward to attending the event and even marshalling on Sunday afternoon!”
