Countdown to Christmas begins with MyMiltonKeynes Christmas Lights Switch-on

MyMiltonKeynes is kicking off the festive season with a spectacular free Christmas lights switch-on, taking place on Saturday 18th November (3-5pm) on Midsummer Boulevard.

This year’s event, hosted by MKFM presenters Trev and Wes, will be packed full of festive fun, including live music, dance performances, and local choirs. You can warm-up with MKFM’s DJ Keith Hurley between 3-4pm, with the main show kicking off at 4pm. It will take place in the turning circle area between Midsummer Place and centre:mk shopping centres.

The full show schedule will be available

to view on our events page of our website and across our social media channels.

Families are encouraged to put on their Christmas hats and join in the celebration of lighting up our

much-loved city. Some of our favourite Milton Keynes mascots will be on parade and the event will

culminate with the switching on of the lights by Father Christmas, joined by the Milton Keynes Mayor

and Mayoress Mick and Mandy Legg.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Milton Keynes said:

“The switching on of Milton Keynes’ Christmas lights is always a special occasion. It is one of the

highlights of the year seeing families and friends gather to celebrate the start of the festive season in

the heart of our city.”

MyMiltonKeynes, which is funded by city centre businesses, is installing Christmas lights in Central

Milton Keynes for the seventh year running. This year the installation includes a giant moving

projection along the outside of Midsummer Place, above the MyMiltonKeynes office. This will be a

must-see attraction in the city.

There is plenty to do throughout Milton Keynes in the lead-up to Christmas. The popular centre:mk

Santa’s Grotto is back in Middleton Hall and includes an immersive theatrical Christmas adventure with

The Snowman, (17 November – 24 December).

Midsummer Place will have plenty to fill your senses with tastes of Christmas and must-do photo

opportunities, as well as their annual charity Christmas Tree Festival, (18 November – 24 December).

Cinderella is this year’s panto, staring the legendary Brian Conley, which will be arriving at Milton

Keynes Theatre on the 9th of December and will be running shows right through to 14th January 2024.

You can feast on culinary delights throughout the city, with its array of worldwide cuisines from the

newly refurbished Hub right up to 12th Street and everywhere in between.

Xscape is packed full of everything you could wish for under one roof this Christmas time, from

restaurants, cafes, retailers, and activities for all the family to enjoy. They will be hosting charities

throughout the festive period and sharing the kindness and giving this season brings.

The much-loved Willen Hospice Santa Dash, sponsored by MyMiltonKeynes, takes place on Sunday 17

December (10am arrival for 10.30 start) at Willen Lake, giving participants a chance to raise funds for

this incredible local charity. Entry is now open, visit here to sign up.
