Labour’s Saskia Soden wins Bletchley East by-election

Saskia Soden is the newly elected councillor for the Bletchley East ward following a successful by-election for MK Labour Party.

MK Labour has held on to its seat in Bletchley East, with Saskia receiving over double the votes of the Conservative candidate.

Saskia grew up in Milton Keynes and is passionate about delivering positive change and fighting on issues that matter to Bletchley East residents.

Saskia joins a strong Labour ward team which includes Cllr Ed Hume and Cllr Mo Khan.

The by-election was held after former Bletchley East councillor Emily Darlington was elected to Parliament at the General Election.

Councillor Saskia Soden said:

“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone in Bletchley East who voted Labour. I look forward to working closely with the community on local issues, fighting for better access to local GPs and working with the council on the much-needed improvements being delivered throughout the town’s centre and to address parking issues.”

Cllr Peter Marland, Leader of Milton Keynes City Council said:

“Saskia will make a tremendous addition to our Labour Group. People have voted overwhelmingly for change this year, and I know Saskia will work hard to help us deliver it."

Callum Anderson, Labour MP for Buckingham and Bletchley, has congratulated Saskia on her win, saying:

“I’d like to extend a huge congratulations to Saskia Soden for winning the Bletchley East by-election last night. Having worked with Saskia previously, I know she will be a committed local councillor who will work extremely hard to support every individual and community in our town.”
