MK Labour has successfully delivered on its 100 Day Action Plan, implementing change by protecting essential services, investing in infrastructure and planning for the future of the city.
The 100-Day Action Plan, published in June, outlined the key objectives that the new Labour administration on Milton Keynes City Council set out to achieve within the first 100 days of the Council's Annual Meeting.
MK Labour has delivered on key pledges, including:
Investing in new technology to fix more potholes better, quicker and more sustainably: A £100,000 investment was made to acquire an innovative ‘Elastomac’ pothole repair machine, which will allow faster, more efficient, and eco-friendly road repairs.
Hitting go on over 50 new council homes: Labour successfully initiated plans for over 50 new council homes, with 66 new properties set to be built as part of the Cripps Lodge project. The £29.2 million development will help meet the urgent need for affordable housing.
Protecting weekly bin collections: Labour Milton Keynes City Council has confirmed the continuation of weekly bin collections, ensuring this vital service remains intact under Labour leadership.
Publishing the draft MK City Plan 2050: The draft MK City Plan 2050, which focuses on affordable housing, job creation, and green space preservation, has launched and is currently undergoing public consultation.
Setting out public realm improvement plans for Bletchley and Fenny Stratford: A community-led consultation approach for public realm improvements in Bletchley and Fenny Stratford to Queensway and Saxon Street in Bletchley, and Aylesbury Street in Fenny Stratford is currently underway.
Progressing the Galley Hill regeneration scheme: MK Labour agreed to award a contract for much-needed improvement works at the Watling Way Centre in Galley Hill, providing a community space for local people and a home for vital MK charities.
Energy efficiency improvements to over 300 council homes: Labour has confirmed energy efficiency improvements for over 1,500 council homes, funded by the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, reducing energy costs for residents, and promoting environmental sustainability.
New school site to provide additional specialist SEND places: Labour has expanded the city’s SEND provision with a new specialist high complex needs school site, which opened for the new school year.
Breakfast club pilots with local schools: Seven suitable schools have agreed they are ready to pilot breakfast clubs with Labour Milton Keynes City Council, ahead of the national Labour Government roll-out.
£500k investment into play areas: Labour City Council has agreed to invest £590K in to play areas throughout 2024/25, including an accessible play area.

“Under the previous Conservative Government, Milton Keynes City Council faced over £200m in cuts and we are still dealing with the consequences. MK Labour will continue to deliver change for a better future for Milton Keynes.”
