From Monday 7 October, the lift in Outpatients (Luing Cowley) will be temporarily closed for a period of nine weeks. This closure will enable us to undertake a major overhaul of all electrical parts, ensuring the lift is future-proofed for years to come and improve the service for staff, patients and visitors.
This lift was part of the original development of the Outpatients facility and these works are required as a matter of urgency to avoid potential unplanned disruption which would take significantly longer to resolve.
We recognise that this will cause disruption and inconvenience for those who require services on levels 3 and 4 and who are unable to use the stairs. All patients who are due to be seen in our Outpatients between 7thOctober and 9th December will receive a phone call from the hospital – with patients due to be seen in October receiving a call later this week. Where patients indicate they require the use of a lift, appointments will re-provided on level 2 (ground floor) and patients will be informed where to go on arrival at the hospital. Signage will be in place during the period of closure.
If you have any questions about your appointment during this time, please contact our Patient Access team on 01908 997050. If you have any concerns about the care or service, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS). They can be contacted on 01908 995954 or PALS@mkuh.nhs.uk.
As part of our ongoing work to build a better hospital for people in Milton Keynes, there is significant construction work taking place across the site. Please allow additional time when attending appointments. Further information about all these developments can be found here.
We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your understanding.
