Redway Runners is thrilled to announce that it has been granted the King’s Award for Voluntary Service. This award is the highest accolade for volunteer groups in the UK, equivalent to an MBE, and recognises Redway Runners’outstanding commitment to serving the Milton Keynes community and creating lasting and meaningful change.
The award highlights the incredible dedication and hard work of Redway Runners’ volunteers, who have continuously contributed their time and efforts to offer coaching and competitive opportunities in athletics, promoting the sport within the local community while ensuring the highest standards and a duty of care to all members. We take great pride in offering running experiences for all ages and abilities, focusing on social running and ensuring weekly runs are enjoyable and friendly. Above all, the aim is to promote running and most importantly, having fun!
Commenting on this huge honour club chair, Martin Lawrence, remarked “The King’s Award for Voluntary Service acknowledges the volunteers' achievements and serves as an inspiration for future initiatives and a catalyst for further community engagement. This is also a wonderful honour for Milton Keynes, which in 2020 was named the European City of Sport, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to developing sports policies, initiatives, infrastructure, and public involvement to support and encourage its residents' health and well-being”.
The club has several events planned to celebrate this award, and, as always, any extra money raised will go straight to charity. The first event kicks off with a ‘Regal Themed’ parkrun at Willen Lake, where the club will come together and celebrate this well-deserved milestone.
